Junior League All-Stars PGA Junior League Golf is a fun, social, and all inclusive way to introduce kids and families to the game of golf. The program promotes youth development and sportsmanship through instruction and coaching. Boys and Girls, ages 13 and under, wear numbered jerseys and play in a team scramble format. Matches are nine holes made up of three, three-hole matches. The Philadelphia PGA Section has grown to 116 teams among 28 Leagues. The program has more than doubled over the last two years both at the local and national level. Participation among our Section has expanded to various areas; geographically stretching from State College, PA, to Rehoboth Beach, DE, to Wilkes-Barre, PA, and many areas in-between. The regular season concluded on July 31st and the All-Star Postseason competition is currently taking place. Postseason Competition began on August 1st and will run through the National Championship on November 19th. Each All-Star team is made up of 10 Players from their local league. Sub-regional competition is a single elimination bracket with all 26 teams. After 2 Rounds of play; there are currently 11 teams remaining. Congratulations to the following teams and PGA Captains: • Lancaster – Captain Kevin McNece (Overlook Golf Club) • Wilkes-Barre #1 – Captain John Roche (Elmhurst Country Club) • Penn State – Captain Steve Wager (Penn State University Courses) • Hershey #2 – Captain Chip Richter (Carlisle Country Club) • Central PA – Captain John Kellogg (Radley Run Country Club) • Philly #2 – Captain Ian Rogers (Llanerch Country Club) • Flourtown – Captain Andy Watters (Talamore Country Club) • Blue Bell – Captain Michael Dean (Cedarbrook Country Club) • NJ/Philly – Captain Dick Smith, Sr. (Valleybrook Golf Club) • Jersey Philly #1 – Captain Daniel Taylor (Medford Village Country Club) • Philly #3 – Captain Vincent Piazza (Makefield Highlands Golf Club) The sub-regional winners from the Philadelphia, New Jersey, Mid- Atlantic and Tri-State Section's will go on to compete in the Mid- Atlantic Regional Championship on September 17th-18th hosted by our Section's own, Ledge Rock Golf Club (Mohnton, PA). Regional winners will advance to the National Championship on November 19th-21st Grayhawk Golf Club (Scottsdale, AZ).
