Drive, Chip and Putt Finals Provides Excitement for Local Competitor The Sunday before Masters Week has become a tradition of its own these last few years. Qualifiers from across the country are invited to Augusta National Golf Club to compete in the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals. With participant totals in the thousands for local qualifiers it is an accomplishment on its own to be one of the 80 finalist invited to Augusta but to place in the top-3 in your respective division is truly an amazing feat. However for Sarah Lydic of Ocean View, DE this was her reality. Lydic's path to Augusta and the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals started in local qualifying at Lone Pine Country Club before advancing through the sub-regional at Nemocolin Woodlands Resort. With one last stage between her and Augusta, Lydic relied on her past experiences and earned the biggest win of her young career at her Regional Qualifier at historic Oakmont Country Club. Once at Augusta Lydic proved she belongs among golf best young golfers as her steady play throughout the day ultimately led her to a third place overall finish in the Girl's 10-11 division. Sarah Lydic's Thoughts on the Drive, Chip and Putt Competing at Augusta was the coolest thing I've done so far in golf. The course was beautiful and the people treated us like we were professionals. It was a thrill to be there and compete at the highest level. I met and became friends with some really nice people and we vowed to work really hard this season so that we get the chance to meet up at Augusta again next year. I am more motivated than ever now after having that incredible experience. My goal is to score under 80 and stay there as much as possible this summer. I also want to continue practicing for the Drive Chip and Putt competitions this summer and qualify for and win my regional championship. I will be competing in the Junior Tour on the Shore events as well as some of the Philly Junior Tour events. I think that having fun is the most important part of getting better in golf. 2017 Drive, Chip and Putt Schedule Saturday, June 3 – Hidden Creek Golf Club (Local Qualifier) Tuesday, June 20 – Trump National Golf Club Philadelphia (Local Qualifier) Friday, June 30 – French Creek Golf Club (Local Qualifier) Wednesday, July 5 – Sunnybrook Golf Club (Local Qualifier) Thursday, July 19 – Mill Race Golf & Camping Resort (Local Qualifier) Monday, July 24 – White Clay Creek Country Club (Local Qualifier) Wednesday, July 26 – Brookside Country Club (Local Qualifier) Tuesday, August 1 – The ACE Club (Sub-Regional Qualifier) Tuesday, August 8 – Applebrook Golf Club (Sub-Regional Qualifier) Click here for more information: PICTURES PROVIDED BY DRIVE, CHIP & PUTT
